Independent guides, no sponsored picks

Travel writing that tells you the real cost.

Farflung publishes route-by-route guides written from actual trips — real prices, real bus schedules, real seasons to avoid. No affiliate hotel lists, no "hidden gems" that are on every list.

How we write a guide

We travel the route ourselves, slowly — usually three to six weeks per region — and price everything in local currency, converted the day of publishing.

No listing goes in unless someone on staff has actually stayed, eaten, or ridden it in the last twelve months.

A guide that hasn't been rechecked is just a rumor with good photos.

About Farflung

Started in 2019 by three writers tired of guides that were clearly written from a desk. Fully reader-funded — no sponsored placements, ever.
